  • WG600 Operators, lets talk D.O. and TPO

    Hello friends and canning brothers.

I just wanted to talk a little about the Wild Goose 600 series fillers and keeping DO as low as possible during operation. Currently we are running on time fills between 83-86 CPM. We don't start running beer until our bright tank DO is below 15ppb, this on average translates to us having in package readings between 100-250ppb with our Anton Par. We do experience spikes related to the occasional stoppage in the line. So far I have made a couple of small mods to the line, being a Co2 knife that blows excess rinse water out of the cans post twist rinse. I just finished making a kind of Co2 hood that covers the area post fill and before the lid droppers with a blanket of Co2, haven't had a chance to run beer with that one yet. We will see if it affected anything in our next run.

Anyway, I just wanted to start the discussion and see if anyone else has any ideas or tips to fight the dreaded D.O.

We also run a 600. Love to see pictures of your CO2 under-lidding set up. We are considering the same....

I will be checking out MAtt soon. 250 seems high for goose...I hand fill still with a 2004 cask and BBT readings (post DE filtration are about 65 ppb and post fill we are at about 95 ppb). The drawback is I fill 10 cans a minute...

        Hey gang!

Well, look at all these familiar user names! We just brought our Anton-Paar C-Box online and we've been happy with MOST of our stats. We run a Wild Goose 100 and push between 26 and 28, 16 oz cans a minute off the line. We also have a depal through twist rinse that utilizes regular process water for the rinse. We're taking pre filler DO's in the brite of about 15 PPB which seems fine, and most of the time we'll take freshly packaged product, shaken for 3-5 minutes and receive about 65 PPB. If this was a constant result, I would be fairly pleased. Where I'm not pleased is when I'm getting results of 250 - 400 PPB. I believe this is the result of lids dropped on large air bubbles AKA "fish or frog eyes". We generally carb up to around 2.6 vol in the brite and have been seeing 2.45 in the package. I can't seem to make the appropriate adjustments to eliminate these sporadic bubbles, and I'm wondering if anyone else has any proven methods. I think if we can stop this from happening, we'll certainly see more readings around that 65 ppb mark.
