    Job Summary

    The role will have direct oversight of the brewing team and will report directly to ownership. This is a hands-on position managing all aspects of the manufacturing operations including brewing, production scheduling, inventory management, packaging, compliance, equipment fixes, training of serving staff, brewery tours, and supervision of staff. The key focus for the role is to make great beer, develop new recipes, sourcing ingredients and meticulously maintain product quality and consistency. As a start-up business, the role will also require duties such as sales, product delivery, event participation and working in the tasting room.

    • Manage all manufacturing / production operations of the brewery
    • Detailed record keeping and quality control reporting
    • Ability to manage yeast and critical parameters such as PH, cell viability and vitality, pitching rates, cropping, storage and maintenance, etc.
    • Ability to maintain inventories of raw and finished goods
    • Cellar work, including fermenter/bright tank CIP, beer transfer, packaging, etc.
    • Federal, provincial and city production compliance reporting / filings
    • Use proper operating, cleaning and preventative maintenance procedures
    • Help develop and refine Standard Operating Procedures, particularly with an eye to improving consistency in brewhouse output
    • Controls costs by minimizing waste, and continuously looking for opportunities to improve
    • Develop and brew new and current recipes
    • Production planning, brewing staff scheduling and inventory control
    • Create a productive team environment with all staff
    • Recruit, mentor and train staff
    • Participates in festivals and promotional events
    • Sales support including engagement with local restaurants, pubs and liquor stores
    • Public tours, education, tastings and interaction with brewery guests
    • Assist in future planning for growth
    • Ability to travel, and work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends
    • Other duties as assigned

    Physical Abilities

    This job is physically demanding, requiring endurance to work on foot for extended periods of time, performing physical acts such as bending over, twisting, kneeling and climbing stairs. At times the role may be requires to assist the brewing team so requiring lifting heavy 55 pound objects and the ability to work in a manufacturing environment with water, humidity, steam, heat and hazardous cleaning materials.
