  • Sightglass grant

I’ve been seeing the large (~12”) sightglasses used as grants on a lot of new brewhouse designs. How are people liking the way they perform? Also, has anyone purchased one separately? Was hoping to find one without having to have it custom made. The largest one I can find through parts suppliers is 6”. Building out a 7 bbl brewhouse and would like to go this route over the traditional grant. Thanks!

I’m seeking the same thing. After some googling I found an American vendor that sells them, but we’re unwilling to sell me one unless I bought my brewhouse from them.....how “craft” of them.

They are available from Chinese vendors, which is exactly where the above US vendor gets theirs from. Check Jinan Tiantai.

They’re working with us very nicely, thank you.

        Pouting is an unattractive quality.

Talk to Jef at BrewBilt in Grass Valley, CA. He is making the best, sight glass wort grants. His Brewhouse designs are incredible! On our new 5bbl Brewhouse he has implemented a 17 point collection manifold. That along with a wide kettle and sometimes wedge wire should get you away from the need to use a grant.

What is the height and diameter of your mash tun?

I think you are referring to a manometer that acts in the same way as a grant. They are made from clear plastic tube with plastic TC fittings on each end. Very simple design with great results.
