Departed Soles Brewing Company, located in Jersey City, NJ and just 3 blocks from the PATH Station into Manhattan, is looking to make an addition to is growing, diverse, and well-rounded team. Halfway through its second full year of production, and operating and near capacity, our brewery specializes in making both Award-Winning gluten free beer, as well as nearly 4 dozen rotating #DefinitelyNotGlutenFree options.
The following position is for a Cellar Man or Cellar Woman to join our unique collection of individuals, and is an entry level position. Pay is commensurate with experience.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Behave yourself both at the brewery, and in public, as anyone who is associated with the brewery, is always representing it
• Assist in maintaining quality standards and cleanliness around the brewery
• Manage CIP processes for all brewery equipment, including production tanks and storage vessels as well as packaging instrumentation and equipment
• Yeast sampling and testing
• Track fermentation process and beer levels
• Fermenter and Brite Tank maintenance, assembly, break down, and cleaning
• Must be capable of moving and lifting full half barrels of beer, 55# bags of grain, etc.
• Aid in Tasting Room activities, including taking 1-2 shifts in our Tasting Room a week, or working events such as festivals, tastings, etc.
• Create and implement creative programs to draw more people to our Tasting Room
• Assist in recipe development
• Pilot Batch new recipes and see them through to Tasting Room sampling
• Create and package firkins
• Keg cleaning
QUALIFICATION: No Brewery experience is necessary, however it is a major plus. Tasting Room or Service Industry experience, as well as homebrewing, are also major bonuses. Please detail these in your Cover Letter.
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
• Team Player Mentality
• Understanding the demands, including hours, of a microbrewery, and that it is not a stander 9-5 job. There will be early mornings (5am), and late nights (11pm).
• Understanding the restrictions of a microbrewery; this is not a well oiled machine with endless resources. We are creative, and we get by with creative thinking and teamwork.
• Ability to work alone. A self starter. Does not need constant supervision.
• Attention to detail.
• Strong ability to multitask
• Great time-management skills
• Ability to create, and execute, creative and unique ideas
• Budgeting capability
• Basic omputer skills (word, excel, gmail, facebook, etc.)
• Friendly, outgoing demeanor
• Strong inter-personal skills and communication skills
• Work off shifts including weekends and holidays.
