QA/QC Position
Olde Hickory Brewery in Hickory, North Carolina is seeking a driven and self-motivated individual to take on the QA/QC and sensory analysis program for the brewery.
The successful applicant will possess the following experience and skills:
• Bachelors degree in brewery related field of study, (e.g. Fermentation, Brewing, Biology or Chemistry), or at least one year of relevant experience
• Understanding of brewing and fermentation science
• Proficiency with aseptic technique and sanitary sampling procedures
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
• Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to work both independently and within a team setting
Typical responsibilities:
• Collect, enter, and analyze QA/QC samples
• Perform microbial and analytical testing at all stages of the brewing process
• Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment
• Follow current Standard Operating Procedures
• Maintain laboratory stock
• Monitor fermenting and bright beer
• Execute taste panels and a sensory analysis program
• Maintain and organize data for all beers, including our sour and barrel aged beer programs
• Coordinate with brewery staff for daily sample and data collection
