Castle Island is looking for an experienced packaging line operator to manage our Norwood, MA brewery’s packaging operation. We’re a rapidly growing brand specializing in cans and draft, and we need a highly motivated individual to oversee all aspects of packaging. You’ll work closely with the Head Brewer and production team to ensure that a consistent, high quality product is the only thing we ship. Things you’ll do on an average day:
• Work with Head Brewer and QC Tech to ensure packaged product meets all QC standards
• Communicate with Brewery Ops Manager to ensure timely packaging according to needs
• Identify opportunities to streamline and create efficiencies in packaging process
• Manage packaging assistants’ schedules
• Perform QC checks, including regular can seam, CO2, and dissolved oxygen measurements
• Oversee operation of depalletizing, filling, packing, and cleaning equipment
• Operate and monitor operation of material handling equipment and scissor lift
• Track daily packaging data and maintain meticulous record keeping
Things this job requires (and a few we’d really like):
• Minimum 2 years of packaging line experience, preferably in the alcoholic beverage industry
• Bonus points for craft beer packaging experience and knowledge of Wild Goose can fillers
• Additional points for proven ability to proficiently operate a forklift
• Must be reliable and prompt
• Excellent decision making and problem-solving skills
• A strong understanding of packaging equipment and controls
• Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate a team and maintain a positive morale
• Undivided attention to details, both big and small
• Accurate and detailed record keeping
• Physically able to be quick on your feet all day
• Ability to consistently lift 55 pounds and maneuver 160 pounds with assistance
• Proper handling of hazardous materials and operation of complex moving machinery
• Willingness to participate in company events and promotions both at and outside the brewery
