Packaging Assistant - Castle Island Brewing Co.
Castle Island is looking for a motivated part-time packaging assistant to join our Norwood, MA brewery’s packaging operation. We’re a rapidly growing brand specializing in cans and draft, and need a durable and reliable individual to help with all aspects of packaging. You’ll work closely with the Packaging Lead and production team to ensure that a consistent, high quality product is the only thing we ship. If you’re mechanically inclined, understand the importance of quality, and enjoy working in a lively team environment, then we’d love to chat.
Things you’ll do on an average day:
• Work with Packaging Lead and QC Tech to ensure packaged product meets all QC standards
• Operate depalletizing, filling, and packing equipment, including keg washer and racker
• Perform QC checks, including regular CO2 and dissolved oxygen measurements
• Assist in grain milling and malt handling as needed
• Keep packaging area clean and organized
• Miscellaneous production tasks, as required
Things this job requires (and a few we’d really like):
• Must be reliable and prompt
• Bonus points for craft beer packaging experience and knowledge of Wild Goose can fillers
• Additional points for proven ability to proficiently operate a forklift
• Ability to consistently lift 55 pounds and maneuver 160 pounds with assistance
• A strong interest to learn operation of packaging equipment and controls
• Undivided attention to details, both big and small
• Accurate and detailed record keeping
• Physically able to be quick on your feet all day
• Proper handling of hazardous materials and operation of complex moving machinery
• Willingness to participate in company events and promotions both at and outside the brewery
