    This position specializes in chemistry and analytical testing with an additional focus on troubleshooting and special projects. Duties may vary as necessary as part of an adaptable team. This position will progress R&D projects both internally and collaboratively, publication opportunities possible. Participation in technically focused ASBC or MBAA professional organizations is encouraged. The Analytical Chemist will report to the Quality Manager. This position will be part of an experienced, hard-working team of brewing scientists responsible for quality control testing, analysis, reporting, and troubleshooting to help ensure the consistent high quality of Victory beer.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Collects, organizes, and reports QA/QC data from raw materials through packaging.
    • Maintains, calibrates, and verifies accuracy of equipment and instrumentation.
    • Performs chemical and analytical testing on product samples.
    • Follows Standard Operating Procedures to execute a robust testing regimen.
    • Performs troubleshooting where necessary on process or equipment.
    • Understands and follows all safety procedures and wears appropriate PPE.
    • Collaborates with other departments to tackle issues as they arise.
    • Performs other duties as necessary, including sensory, microbiology, statistics, and KPI reporting.
    • Progresses R&D and special projects both internally and in collaboration with 3rd party labs.

    Position Requirements:

    • Brewing school with lab experience, or a 4-year degree in natural sciences is required.
    • At least three years of relevant experience is required.
    • Easy to work with – excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Servant-leader approach to teamwork
    • Focused and determined work ethic
    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a cohesive team to accomplish lab and production goals
    • Ability to perform under pressure and prioritize multiple demands
    • Understanding of fermentation science and the elements of brewing process and procedure
    • Familiarity with ASBC methods of analysis
    • Understanding of chemistry, instrumentation, and its application in brewing QA/QC
    • Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems related to product and/or equipment
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality of recipes, processes, procedures, and other proprietary information
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
    Other Requirements

    • Ability to stand for long periods of time and do physically demanding work is required.
    • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. is required.
    • Willingness to work in an environment with high noise levels is required.
    • Willingness to occasionally work nights, weekends, or holidays as necessary is required.
