Looking for a way into Wilmington’s exploding craft beer scene? Wilmington’s original brewery is looking for a hard-working, motivated individual who wants to take the first step towards an exciting brewing career. We need someone energized and passionate about craft beer to keep our beers flowing, and to spread the good word of craft beer to the people. The work is HARD, but there is no better industry out there for career enjoyment and positive culture.

The cellarman is responsible for getting our finished beer to our thirsty clientele: transferring and carbonating new batches, filling kegs and growlers, and cleaning and maintaining all of our fermenting and serving vessels, kegs, and draft systems so they’re ready to create and serve the best beer in town. You will also lead guided brewery tours, working as a craft beer evangelist on the front lines of the revolution.

    Desired traits:
    • Clean driving record is non-negotiable, for driving the company van
    • In good shape and physically prepared for heavy lifting on a daily basis (55 lb grain sacks, full kegs, heavy trash bins full of spent grain)
    • Contagious enthusiasm for craft beer and knowledge of beer styles
    • Enjoy public speaking and entertaining a crowd for brewery tours
    • Homebrewing experience a major plus (or other brewery experience)
    • Available to work weekends
    • Sense of humor
    • Nunchuck skills

    Responsibilities:
    • Keep fresh beer flowing to our thirsty patrons!
    • Manage cellar stock & barrels, transfer and carbonate new batches of beer
    • Aid in sensory evaluation of new batches for recipe revision
    • Clean and sanitize draft systems, serving tanks, and fermentation vessels
    • Operate our counter-pressure bottling system and maintain to-go beer stock
    • Clean and fill kegs
    • Create an exciting educational beer experience for our customers through engaging brewery tours and guided tastings

    Opportunities:
    • Starting day 1, contribute your own recipes and creative ideas to the Wort Shop, our experimental small batch program. Your beer will be on draft for the public!
    • Travel and attend regional beer festivals to promote our beer
    • Learn the fundamentals of cellar & brewhouse operations & sensory evaluation
    • Participate in the recipe revision process and learn how to formulate beer recipes
    • Learn transferrable skills and get some brewery experience on your résumé
    • Stick around long enough, and we’ll teach you to brew

Please submit a résumé detailing education and relevant experience, along with a cover letter explaining your passion for craft beer and why you want to work for Front Street Brewery. Email to christopher"dot"fsb at gmail. Applicants who do not submit both a resume and a cover letter will NOT be considered.

We look forward to getting to know you!
