    BURNING BUSH BREWERY HEAD BREWER JOB DESCRIPTION
    Reports To: Owner/Operations Manager
    Salary: Depends on Experience
    Employment: Regular Full Time
    Work Location: Chicago, IL

    JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
    Burning Bush Brewery is a 5 BBL Start-up brewery. As the Head Brewer, the primary role will be all brewing operations, including but not limited to: brewing, cellar work, packaging product, production planning, general cleaning, the operation and upkeep of equipment, and maintaining quality control throughout all aspects of the brewing and cellar processes.

    ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    - Responsible for all areas of brewing, cellaring, packaging, and racking production.
    o Complete brewing process in a safe and efficient manner. This includes, but is not limited to: milling, mashing, and lautering, wort boiling, and transferring to
    fermenter.
    o Transfer beer to serving vessels including but not limited to: brite tanks, kegs, bottles and cans.
    o Maintaining the use of standard operating procedures
    o Monitor pitch and evaluate yeast as needed
    o Monitor supply of raw materials and other inventory items.
    o Monitor water quality, gravity, fermentation temperatures, and carbonation levels.
    - Stay current with developing beer styles around the world and propose new and unique beer recipes.
    - Work closely with Burning Bush owner and staff to maintain a current and comprehensive understanding of Burning Bush beer offerings, brewery history, beer styles, new releases and culture.
    - Provide leadership for the brewery staff through education and training.
    - Create and improve brewery standard operating procedures (SOPs) for every critical step.
    - Build and maintain relationships with vendors. Maintain minimum of 2 vendors for critical ingredients.
    - Assist with TTB reporting and record keeping
    - Participate in Burning Bush themed promotions and educational beer events as needed.

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
    - Professional Experience in brewing operations, minimum two years as assistant or head brewer.
    - High School Diploma or GED required.
    - Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, mobile applications and technology

    JOB REQUIREMENTS
    - Proof of eligibility to work in the United States
    - Valid driver’s license, proof of insurance and a clean driving record
    - Reliable transportation for work
    - Ability to work a flexible schedule including evening, weekends, and holidays

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
    - Must be able to perform simple grasping, fine manipulation, and repetitive hand arm movements frequently
    - Must be able to bend, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, and walk on uneven surfaces
    - While primarily an indoor job, must be able to walk outside in a variety of weather conditions (rain, wind, snow, heat)
    - Must be able to work in hot, cold, and wet environments
    - Must be able to climb stairs both inside and outside and frequently lift 50 lbs. and up to 60 lbs.
    - Must be able to drive vehicles
    - Must be able to use a ladder, i.e., work at heights of 10+’ above grade
