  • Brewer - Bluejacket Washington, D.C.

Bluejacket is seeking a brewer to join our passionate team.

    Who We Are:
Bluejacket was built to be a brewery without boundaries. The brewery was conceived and created by the Neighborhood Restaurant Group, a collective of restaurants and bars including spots like Birch & Barley, ChurchKey, Rustico and The Sovereign—all known for their ground-breaking beer programs.

At Bluejacket, understanding of and respect for the traditions and techniques of classic brewing coexist with a spirit of constant experimentation, innovation and collaboration. We brew beers ranging from the intensely flavored to the subtly nuanced that collectively reflect the past, present, and future of craft brewing.

The space that Bluejacket occupies is as distinctive as the brewery itself. We occupy one of the few historical industrial buildings in Washington, adjacent to the Navy Yard and steps from Nationals stadium. The soaring interior dimensions reflect the building’s past life as a boilermaker factory, and accommodates a restaurant and bar in addition to the brewery. Our 25 taps offer a constantly rotating selection of Bluejacket beers showcasing a broad range of flavors and styles that allow for endless pairing options with the dining menu’s offerings.

    Who We’re Looking For:
The ideal candidate has proven experience brewing impeccable beer, and combines creativity with extreme attention to detail. The brewer will be helping to continue a program that combines thoughtful experimentation with a firm grounding in tried and true styles and techniques. We need a team player who can thrive in an environment of creative give-and-take with others, and who can balance flexibility and innovation with absolute adherence to standards and practices in the brewing process.

-Package beer on our small canning line.
-Manage and grow a robust barrel-aged beer program, including extensive work with mixed-culture and spontaneous fermentations.
-Oversee all cleaning, sanitation and maintenance, excelling at troubleshooting and problem solving.
-Maintain our current SOPS while also bringing fresh eyes to all of our processes. We highly value openness and collaboration in all aspects of production.
-Work closely with our Beer Director and our management team to create an inviting and inspiring environment for craft beer drinkers in DC. The beers we brew are just one part of the story, and communication across all areas of service are paramount.

    Qualifications:
-Intimate knowledge of classic beer styles with a demonstrated ability to brew to style as well as to push boundaries and apply innovative techniques.
