    Bright Ideas Brewing is looking for a full-time brewer to join its team of creative, beer-loving professionals in North Adams, Massachusetts. Our ideal applicant will have at least two years of production brewing experience (including crafting original recipes), a pioneering spirit, a hardy work ethic, excellent communication skills, the ability to work well with others, and a desire to grow with the company.

    Established in 2016, our 7 BBL brewery is located on the campus of MASS MoCA, North America’s largest contemporary art museum, where programming includes not only world-class art exhibitions but regular concerts and festivals that bring clientele from around the world into our taproom.

Aside from being a part of the day-to-day happenings at MASS MoCA, you will be a stone’s throw away from the Clark Art Institute, Williamstown Theatre Festival, Williams College, Tanglewood, Ramblewild, Jiminy Peak, as well as abundant opportunities for hiking, fishing, kayaking, and general adventuring. North Adams is just 3.5 hours from New York City, 1 hour from Albany, and and 2.5 hours from Boston.

    Job Description

    While the title for this posting is simply “Brewer,” the goal is for this person to grow into the Head Brewer role within 6 months of employment. For that reason, candidates should ultimately expect to perform, delegate, or supervise any and all production-related duties at Bright Ideas, including:
    • Maintaining a brewing operation that provides taproom with eight well-executed beers on tap at all times, in addition to meeting outside sales and distribution needs
    • Participating in weekly brewery production meeting with Management and production staff
    • Setting production schedule, including brewing, cellaring, and cleaning duties
    • Maintaining malt, hop, and chemical inventory and conveying any ordering needs to Operations Manager in a timely fashion
    • Designing new beer recipes and modifying current recipes as needed
    • Keeping Beersmith up-to-date with recipes and modifications
    • Managing cooperage and consulting with Operations Manager on keg tracking systems
    • As needed, creating Standard Operating Procedures for all production-related processes and equipment
    • Training brewing staff and conducting beer education classes for FOH staff
    • Acting as a brand ambassador, attending beer festivals and local events to promote Bright Ideas
    • Ensuring OSHA compliance in brewery
