  • Restricted ball valves in my glycol loop.

    Hello Probrewers,

I’m currently setting my glycol loop up and the provided ball valves has major restrictions in them. Will this cause any problem with my pressure? They’d be attached to the header loop at the drop down and return from each FV. I have a 1.5” header and 1” drop downs.Click image for larger version

    Depends...

They will add restriction. Better if they were full-port. Whether it will add too much, can't say. I'd replace them. But it will cost you something. I've used Apollo valves with good luck. You could always do that later if the installed valves raise your loop pressure too much. Pumping effort not only costs you, but raises the temperature of the glycol that you just paid to cool.
