    21st Amendment Brewery is now accepting applications for Packaging Manager for our San Leandro, California facility. We are looking for great candidates that have a strong background in packing operations and can lead a group of Packaging Operators.

    Our ideal candidate will have management experience in high-speed packaging of beer or other beverages, a can-do attitude, and the willingness to problem-solve and create solutions to meet quality and production goals. The Packaging Manager is a hands-on position that will be responsible for overseeing the entire packaging operation and ensuring packaging operations remain on schedule.



    What The Job Involves:

    • Work with the all levels of the company and partner with the Production Manager to manage the daily packaging schedules.
    • Responsibilities include the work and productivity on the can line and racker with eventual commissioning of a bottling line.
    • Be a safety champion by maintaining a safe working environment within the packaging department area and employees.
    • Responsible to train, schedule, and lead the packaging team. Create opportunities for team and individual development. Interview, hire and transition new employees to the department.
    • Develop, review, and revise Packaging SOP’s and standards with focus on safety, quality & efficiency.
    • Ensure a clean, sanitary, and “showcase brewery” work environment at all times.
    • Schedule and perform setup, startup, shutdown, cleaning, and packaging line change-overs.
    • Perform weekly and monthly inventory management for all production materials.
    • Order packaging materials and schedule releases of packaging material to the brewery. Maintain sufficient inventory levels.
    • Develop active relationships with current and new vendors and suppliers.
    • Seek out process improvements to increase quality, improve line efficiencies, and increase safety.
    • Lead inquiries into beer quality issues as it relates to the packaging department, investigate non-conformities, and put measures into place to help prevent reoccurrences.
    • Operate and troubleshoot all packaging equipment centers.
    • Assist the Maintenance Department to create and maintain PM’s and equipment overhauls to ensure company safety and quality standards are met.
    • Ensure effective communication throughout department and interdepartmentally. Ensuring adequate and timely information flow.
    • Demonstrate high engagement to meet growing demands and perform other duties as needed and assigned.
    • Eagerness to be part of a growing team with safety, accountability, professionalism, teamwork and fun in the forefront of the culture.



    Our Ideal Candidate Has:
    • A 4-year degree in Business or related degree. In lieu of a four-year degree, a 2-year degree with 3-5 years of professional experience as a Packaging Manager. In lieu of a degree, 5-7 years of professional experience as a Packaging Manager.
    • In addition, prior and progressive work experience in Packaging with a minimum of 3 years as a Packaging Manager Leadership Role within a high-speed beverage packaging environment.
    • Experience with high-speed machinery such as canning, bottling and keg filling equipment is a plus.
    • Experience troubleshooting/repairing mechanical and electrical problems is a plus.
    • Strong leadership skills and management experience.
    • Previous experience with scheduling, planning, staffing, and coordinating production.
    • Pallet jack and forklift operating experience in manufacturing environment.
    • Ability to express oneself in both written and verbal communication.
    • Proficient with MS office suite of software, primarily excel, and word.
    • A valid driver’s license and an excellent driving record required.



    Working Conditions:
    • Capable of standing for long periods of time and to perform physically demanding work.
    • May need to lift up to 75 pounds.
    • Ability to produce competent work and have a high level of awareness to operate safely around potentially hazardous machinery, chemicals, and wet environments.
    • Work in an environment with high noise levels.
    • Flexibility and able to work when required, on weekends and/or weeknights.
