Mikkeller Brewing is looking for a Cellarman to come join our team at one of the fastest growing breweries in San Diego!
About the Brewery: Mikkeller Brewing San Diego opened in 2015 as the first physical brewery by acclaimed “Gypsy” brewmaster Mikkel Borg Bjergsø. We challenge ourselves to brew world-class beers inspired by our experience and bound only by the limits of our creativity. We are constantly pushing the boundaries as to what is considered “good beer” and changing the definition completely.
Duties/Functions:
• Recording fermentation gravities, temperature, and activity daily.
• Engage proper yeast management and handling when directed
• Dry hopping according to recipes and Standard Operating Procedures
• Maintain an orderly and safe work environment in cellar/brewery as well as the entire facility.
• Participate in QA/QC sensory analysis.
• Good workmanship with strong interdepartmental communication.
• Work with strong and often hazardous chemicals
• Heavy physical work (bending, kneeling, pulling hoses, etc.).
• Work continuously on wet floors, tight spaces, hot/cold, and with wet equipment
.• Assisting in brew preparation: building malt orders, milling, etc
• Transfer beer from fermenter to brite tank.
• Filtration when directed
Experience/Essential Requirements:
• Previous cellar and lenticular filtration experience are preferred.
• Good mechanical skills with troubleshooting ability
• A full understanding of cleaning and sanitation procedures
.• Must be able to work varying hours depending upon production schedule, which will include weekends and graveyard when necessary
• A positive attitude in a demanding and repetitive production environment.
• Strong orientation towards quality control and safety
.• Ability to multitask and adjust to changing priorities while focusing on detail.
• Strong communication ability, both written and verbal.
• Able to stand on feet all day.
• Ability to lift over 50 lbs.
