Borderlands Brewing is looking for our next lead brewer. In this position you will be responsible for: maintaining consistency, quality, and production targets for flagship brands; contracting for hops and maintaining inventory of malts and other brewing ingredients; developing new and exciting one-offs, seasonal beers, barrel aging and sour programs; monitoring and adjusting water chemistry to optimize efficiencies, cleaning, sanitizing, and having a basic knowledge of maintenance on and troubleshooting of brewing equipment and machinery;
communicating with and educating customers, staff, and ownership about new beers and styles; promoting Borderlands at regional and national festivals and conferences, establishing and nurturing relationships with local brewers and industry colleagues; assisting with cellarman duties when needed, assisting with canning; mentoring and educating assistant brewers and other brewing staff; participating in regional guild meetings; keeping up with industry trends and publications; and making Borderlands an enjoyable place to work. We are looking for the skills and attitude to make outstanding beers and helping Borderlands hit the ground running as we approach the “next level”.
Employment will begin as soon as possible. The compensation package is negotiable (depending on experience) and includes a yearly salary (payable biweekly), a production bonus of $3/bbl (payable monthly and currently estimated at 160bbl/mo.) 2 weeks (14 business days) of paid vacation, and 5 personal (sick) days. Borderlands will also observe the following holiday schedule (for 2018): Memorial Day (Monday, May 28th), Independence Day (Wednesday, July 4th), Labor Day (Monday, September 3rd), Thanksgiving (Thursday, November 22nd and Friday, November 23rd), and Christmas Eve and Christmas Day (Monday, December 24th and Tuesday, December). As part of your compensation you will be allocated a monthly ration of beer equivalent to two (2) 1/6th bbls which can only be used for personal consumption or gifts and may not be resold.
