  • L&A engineering tanks

    Hi all,
I have a few fermenters made by L&A engineering in Turloc, CA circa 1985. My problem is they don't hold more than 8psi of pressure before the manway gasket bulges out and leaks CO2. Any one have any experience or info on these tanks they could share with me. Would a new gasket solve the problem? Or shouldn't I be pressurizing these tanks at all?

    Cheers,
    Joe

    Hey Joe--

I have some 15 bbl fermenters from L & A from around the same time period. Yours is a top manway, i'm guessing? I don't think the manway doors I have are not suited for pressure since they are anchored only on one side, and who knows about the rest of the tank. I'm in construction on my brewery, so I haven't had a chance to see how they hold up to pressure.

How are you cleaning that tank? Mine doesn't have a CIP ball spray system, so I'm probably going with a Gamajet for the three I have.

      cip cleaning

I have a CIP spray ball that I can insert in the top of the tank through a TC fitting.
