Hop Shoots

The chef at our restaurant has a Cooking Challenge that he would like to do something special for and it has to be beer related. Is there a source for hop shoots in the US? It is a delicacy in Belgium I understand. I know there was a hop purveyor at the CBC that had brined hop shoots but we would like to get a hold of fresh hop shoots. This should be the right time to harvest. We need enough to serve 300 people and are willing to pay for them.

The vendor you spoke of at the CBC is Puterbaugh Farms/HopsDirect in Mabton, WA. I'm sure Diana would sell you some shoots if they are still indeed cutting them - I know they finished selling rhizomes back in March. You can contact them at:
