  • Newbie Hop Contract Question

    hello
i will shortly be taken over the brewing duties at a local brewpub. we're a small outfit making somewhere between 50-75, 7 bbl. batches per year.
there is no hop contract in effect right now and the brewer had a little surplus and would order (very) small quantities when needed.

we will make a mixed bag of beers...i estimate right now around 100-150# of various hops per year. nothing too high in alphas maybe a pale ale twice a year, an imperial stout, and an ipa if lucky.

as a new guy coming into the business what do i need to do or who should i contact about securing some hops for the future?

    thanks for the advice!

My advice would be to contact your current supplier. If they still have anything left I'm sure they will take care of you. FYI depending on the supplier you may have to pay for the entire contract (and possibly take delivery) upfront.

    Good luck.
