What are organic hops selling for now?

    Is this even close?

That's $80/lb. I'm no expert, but I wouldn't pay half that. Seven Bridges sells organic hops for about $2-$3/oz. Homebrewers get jacked on economies of scale.

      Organic Hops Prices

I've seen this so many times over the last couple of years. Granted, the infrastructure for USDA certified organic production costs a bit more (about 15% in general according to my math scribbling) but i don't think that justifies the cost increase. We see this sort of gouging all over the "organic" sector. I guess it depends on what scale these organic hops are being produced. If its a small plot with all hand harvesting, then maybe they need $80/lb to cover the costs. If we take a conventionally grown Cascade at $28 per lb and mark it up by 15% to cover our production increase, then we'd be close to $34/lb. BUt I guess that doesn't cover the "value-added" aspects.

Sorry...Got a little heated there for a second. I guess the real question is what is the label worth to you? And are they truely organic?
