      general practices

Just curious what people do as part of a QA/QC program. For example test empty new bottles for colony forming units? Prolonged storage at elevated temperatures. Things like that.

      Thanks,
      Joe

Curious, plating new glass?...what?... monthly? No rinser? Don't trust your water? Don't use metered sanitizer? Have too many lab people with time on their hands?
Packaging QA - Start with beer. Tank bacteria=0? (You won't know till after the fact), Tank airs=0? (critical). CO2 within spec? Fillers react differently to beer styles and CO2 levels - adjust fobber location. Can you change the fobbing orifice in the heads? Some can. Do you plate the filler surface? Valves? Starwheels? Bottle airs in spec? Canning? Different issues.

Crowner heads/elements (biggest source of bacteria) - deal with it. Crowns within spec? Spray them with sanitizer? Conveyor lines clean?... tested? Labels straight? Glue use within spec? Carton specs in line? I'm assuming you don't bottlewash or pasteurize cause you add on a lot more tests.
