  • Ambient heat from a steam jacketed brewhouse

    Hey folks,
I'm sure this is an old subject, but I'm not finding the answer I need. I've only brewed on direct fire equipment which put out a lot of heat into their brewery. I now own a 10 BBL steam jacketed system. My architect and MPE engineer are now asking me about the ambient heat exchange of the unit during the brew day and I just don't know. The equipment is used and the manufacturer no longer exists so I really hope you fine brewers can help.
    Thanks,
    Rob

    Heat

    hey Rob.

who built it? are the jackets covered / insulated? If you put the boiler in a different room and the jackets are covered you won't have a ton of heat dump into your space (if your tanks are vented to the outside)

      thanks Larry

It's a bohemian monobloc II. It is insulated. The Boiler is outside. The steam supply, condensate return, and all other piping will be insulated and the vent goes straight up and out the roof.

So you don't think any extra (beyond normal) air exchange is necessary?
      Thanks,
      Rob
