  • Keg dispense 2.8 vol. wit

I have a wit that is carbed to about 2.8 vols. I push out of the server at 15 psi no issues. I have a customer that wants a keg for a party. Is it going to be possible to dispense this beer with a hand pump?

Sure! Partial pressures aside, the reality is that the gas dynamics are fairly slow and as long as you balance the keg interior pressure to the length/resistance of the dispense hose, AND they drink the beer within an evening, you should be fine. A 3/16" ID vinyl hose is about 3 psi/foot. If you are serving at 15 psi and 2.8 volumes then you will need to keep the beer at 39F and use 5 feet of beer tubing. More tubing won't change anything except the speed of the pour. The trick might be to know what your keg pressure is and keep it at 15 psi. Amateurs tend to think that too much foam = too much pressure and then either don't pump or worse, vent. Good luck!
