  • Hop Harvest Timeline

On average, what is your time line for harvesting your hops, once the first cones reach maturity and the slower flowers begin their growth on the vine.
I think I can harvest 45-50% within the next two weeks, Dryer is ready, should I purge with Nitrogen, the first batch, until the late arrivals mature and I can blend them in.

    nohandslance-

I harvest about 8/15 -9/12 here in NM.

One variety of NM hops were already harvested in San Diego about 2 weeks ago.

A way of telling if your cones are ready to harvest is to squeeze them and if they return to shape,,they are ready to harvest. Your cones look like they are still swelling in the picts.

      Timeline?

      Hey Lance

I think the cones on one sidearm get ready within a couple weeks of each other so if you aim to pick twice or thrice you can get all the cones at their hoppiest before they shatter or dry up.

Or if you pick one time-- aim for that bell curve. Some overdone and some under done but the majority full of the yellow

Why mix the slower cones with the precocious ones? Just a storage issue?

Did I even get close to answering the question?
      Beautiful Cascades there!
