I have a small 20 X 20 plate and frame filter from GW Kent and would like to start filtering about 200 gallons of beer through it. Is this too small? My first attempt went very slow but filtered most of the beer until it stopped all together in about 2 hours. Maybe the beer just needs a longer cold conditioning period before filtration?

I could also try and back flush the filter but am unsure of how to do this. If you run 180 degree water through it will that break down the filter pads? Also, is water at this temp enough to sanitize the filter, or do you have to run sanitizer through after the rinse? Lastly, I assume that if you run a little beer through the filter before continuing to fill the tank, oxygen isn't a problem?

I hope that all made sense Filtering is new to me, but I feel it would help.

    Thanks for you help
