  • Sterile filtration?

    Hi,

Will a DE filter (keiselgur) + 1 micron cartridge remove harmful microorganisms?

1 micron is too big to remove all bacteria. You need .45 microns absolute.

I read somewhere that publicity shy Scots micro, BrewDog had changed their filtration from sterile to a less tight filter, after talking to respected & experienced US brewers (I'm guessing Stone & others?) - anyone any experience of this? (as distinct from entirely unfiltered bottle cond beers)
      cheers

No need to worry about microorganisms when you have 32% ABV.

32%? Pah! - they laugh at their own previous watery beer, now they have a freeze-distilled IPA 'Sink The Bismark' at 41%abv

" . . . a quadruple IPA that contains four times the hops, four times the bitterness and frozen four times to create at a staggering 41% ABV."

The crass/cool unthinking/calculated decision to name this beer has caused a few ructions in the British beer world, quel surprise.
