  • Amount of Gelatin

Anyone have any advise on using gelatin to clear beer?
Specifically, how much per barrel and at what temp should it be mixed at?

Are you using gelatin in the kettle? Normally I would think that gelatin was supposed to be applied to finished beer. What is the product called?

I would think that the gelatin was mixed into 140-170 degree water and then added to the beer that has already been fermented.

Ah, of course. That makes more sense.

Yes! And make sure you don't boil it. You will denature the proteins that make it work and end up with gunk.

We go with 1 oz per bbl of beer in fermenter and it works well.
Mix with up to 180f h20 from hot liq tank. Mix and add slowly to h20.
