  • Website legalities...

We're redesigning our website. Does anyone know if it is a legal requirement to have the "AGE VERIFICATION PAGE" as the first page? Most (but not all...) alcohol sites have it, and it is soooo easy to "lie", so why is it even there. Is it really a legal requirement.

Also, in the state of California, does anyone know if it is illegal to list the on- and off-premise locations where our beer is available (and keep that list updated as it changes)? For some reason I seem to remember that that is a no-no.....

I don't think it is a legal requirement to have the age counter for the webstie, the Brewers Association encourages it and for what its worth it is another layer of protection in the event of a legal suit so you can say that you clearly showed your business represented and marketed to those of legal drinking age. In good taste basically. As far as sales maps, its good here in PA, don't know about out west.

In California it is a definite no-no to list off site sales locations on your website. Many people get around this by using blogs/tweets, which are not connected to the company, and feeding the new release and availability information through them.

Contact your state craft brewers assocition and they will know for sure. In California the CSBA is great!

        Couldn't help it....

BTW; correct on both posts above.
