  • Dumb question

Is there a correlation between alpha acid content and oil content of hops?
EX. I f I have one harvest of Cascade at 4.2% Alpha, and one at 6% Alpha should there be a higher oil content (my hop distributer does not provide oil analysis)? Other wise should I adjust dry hop amounts based on Alpha content, or not?

I looked into this a while back and found that there is no correlation between alpha acid content and essential oil content. I can't find the piece of research I read, but I'll dig around and see if I can find it.

    Cheers,
    Jason

        overview of german hops

Although this data can change from year-to-year and field-to-field, here is some good info on the general composition of German hop varieties. As Jaltwies said, any good hop provider should have this info for the products.
