  • Drying Spent Grains

Does anyone have an economical method of drying spent grains for the small microbrewer? It seems that if the moisture could be reduced to 10% it could be pelletized and and fed back to the boiler as fuel.

      Drying unit.

Economical. No! what is your idea of economical. I currently use a dryer, multi purpose, barley, spent grain, corn, wheat, hops, etc. SS, completly wash down, with forced air and venting. Unless you are drying huge amounts this is not friendly to your bank account.

I do not know of an economical solution. But I did see a interesting piece of equipment at a large disillery in Bardstown KY. They used the excess heat from their boiler to dry their grain.
