    NORTH AMERICAN BREWERIES:
    A leader in marketing and selling specialty and imported beer in the United States. North American Breweries imports and markets Labatt Blue and Labatt Blue Light, the No. 1 & No. 2 Canadian beers in the U.S., along with Genesee, Magic Hat, Pyramid, MacTarnahan’s and the Dundee family of craft beers.     North American Breweries is seeking a Director of Compliance and Recipe Management. As we continue to grow we see the need to ensure the integrity of our Recipe Database and as well to develop new recipes as needed. The high level of regulation in the brewing industry also requires that we have systems in place to ensure compliance with all Federal, State and Local regulations. We are seeking a well rounded individual with experience in multiple areas of brewery management. This position will evolve over time from one that is developing systems into one that can maintain and update the systems that are put in place. Beyond that it can turn into one of many opportunities that arise in a maturing Brewery operations department. This position would report to the Corporate Director of Quality.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Work with our cost accountant and provide the correct recipe information for all our products to ensure all BOM’s in BPCS are current and correct.
    • Audit all formulations for any compliance and or regulation issues that could arise. It is critical that our formulations stay within the limits that the TTB has set for our industry.
    • Ensure that formulations are in balance with regards to the desired specifications.
    • Take lead on QMS system purchase and setup
    • Write and submit and update all SOPs. Ensure that SOPs are on file for contract partners
    • Work with brewing on product development
    • Complete overhaul and consolidation of NAB recipes
    • Develop security for recipes
    • Work with brewing team to standardize Malternative batching instructions
    • Audit all paperwork for TTB compliance. Prepare all records to ensure an orderly and speedy audit could take place in the event of a TTB audit. Maintain records with respect to TTB retention policies.
    • Beer and Malternative Sensory analysis
    • Brewery operations problem solving
    • Trend analysis for process improvement
    • Employee training and education


    ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Support plant operations as needed.
    • Promote the NAB brands in the consumer sector when visiting bars, restaurants and stores that sell beer.
    • Other duties and projects as assigned.

    • Very strong in Excel, Access, Networking and Information Storage skills

    • Knowledge of the ingredients used in the beverage production process
    • QC/QA experience
    • Knowledge of TTB regulations

    LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
    Brewing school certification preferred

    EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
    • Education; Bachelor’s degree in a science discipline is required.
    • Formal food science or brewing credentials from recognized institutions preferred.
    • Strong Brewing or Packaging background is a must
    • Previous experience blending Malternatives preferred


    LIST THE EQUIPMENT WITH WHICH YOU MUST BE FAMILIAR, OR ARE REQUIRED TO OPERATE OR USE
    • Laboratory equipment: centrifuge, digital density meter, spectrophotometer, microscope
    • Computer, keyboard, and mouse.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
    • Able to lift 50-60 lbs. occasionally
    • Able to climb ladders up to 10 feet
    • Able to perform repetitive movements to perform tasks
    • Able to sit at lab table (up to 2 hours)
    • Must be able to bend, reach and stand for long periods
    • Able to work in an environment with high noise levels
    • Able to work with hazardous chemicals
    • Able to frequently duck under conveyors/equipment.
    • Able to occasionally climb stairs.
    • Able to frequently grasp with one or both hands
    • Able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (respirators, face masks, ear plugs, boots, etc)
