  • One solenoid per jacket?

I've got 10 bbl conicals with two jackets (cone and main) but only one thermowell located just above the cone (actually two if you count the one for the analog thermometer, but they're at the same level.

Is there any point in using a solenoid for each jacket when I'm working with only one temp probe?

    nope........

Not without a second thermowell in the cone, there is no way to control a separate temp/solenoid. A single valve per tank is really your only option. Ideally separate control would be great but it really isn't a major concern with smaller tanks like a 10 BBL, just make sure your harvesting no later than 24-36 hrs after reaching crash temp/satisfactory flocculation, which can be be fickle at times

South County is right on the money. Ditto what he said. No need.

Just put shutoffs on each incoming pipe, then you could adjust / turn off jackets as needed- say for cone propagation.
