Hello all,
So, about 3 months ago I switched to Zep's FS CIP cleaner from a company that I had been using for about 3 years. Zep is local, I don't pay for shipping and the sample they gave me worked very well, it does not require any de-foamer in a CIP, in addition to the fact that they we're about $300 cheaper for a 55 gallon drum. I have gone from using 3 oz./gallon on my fermenters to 1/2 oz. and they are shiny clean...GREAT!
Two problems though. The caustic is browning my vinyl tubing (not the biggest issue in the world) and it is breaking down my teflon quick disconnect's auto shutoffs very quickly.
So a few questions.
1) Anyone else using this product and how much are you using?
2) What could be causing the browning of the vinyl?
3) Any ideas on the teflon quick disconnects?
4) Anybody else getting their tanks clean with 1/2 oz/gallon of caustic?
