  • DIN Wrench

    Hello:

I want to ask several people the following concerning the usage of DIN fittings.

Do you always have to use the wrench to tighten the nut? Or at times is hand tightening enough?

Likewise with removal. If you hand tighten, can you untighten with hand only?

    Thanks for your responses

My two cents is: No, yes, and sometimes. It may not always be necessary, but you should have a wrench somewhere because you will need it at some point. There's an interesting post on DIN vs. Tri-clamp vs. others. If I have a choice, I will always go Tri-clamp.

      Din, Sms, Tc

I have used all of these in brewing, and I always tighten SMS, and DIN connections with a wrench. I just have a bad gut feeling when it comes to O2, and safety.

      I'm Gutless I guess

Yes use a wrench and check regularly, they work themselves loose with vibration.

I've always had to use the wrench on my DIN fittings. Hand tightening has never been enough, but the fittings work great. As a point of reference, my tanks are from Premier Stainless.
