  • mental over rental

I am in the market for sixtels. Can somebody explain why I should "rent to own kegs" vs. buying new ones? Geemacher has sixtels @ $93 ea. for a pallet of 46. The rent to own program winds-up costing over $270 per sixtel after 8 years. Anybody rent to own (with other companies besides MicroStar)? Regrets? Praise? Indifferent? Inquiring minds want to know.

Depends on a lot of factors, including cash flow and the markets you serve. Obviously, if you have the cash to invest in kegs, their value seems to be quite stable on the open market for used kegs. In essence, these companies are acting as a bank with very high return rates for themselves.

      Rent kegs

I looked at this at length. My biggest problem with rent kegs are that if they get lost you pay new price including all the rent you paid. Also if you want to return them you have to go and find them all in a short period of time. I opted to just get a leasing company involved. Act as your own bank, rent was too expensive.
