Which lasts longer on the shelf? Bottle conditioned beer (like Sierra) or filtered and force carbonated variety?
How about an unfiltered beer that gets force carbonated and bottled, leaving a slight yeast residue in the bottle anyway?
I am thinking that a filtered beer will have a longer shelf life if kept refrigerated, but at room temps (which lots of bottles see sometimes) the bottle conditioned ale might outlast....
Also in general I would assume that the flavor profile of a filtered beer stays stable for a while, then crashes quickly if ever abused. A bottle conditioned beer might resist temp changes but will slowly and steadily "mature" losing it's initial freshness.
All this is assuming we are making a wimpy weak beer, 6% or less abv.
also thanks for the conduit/temp wire answers.
