  • Seeking enthusiastic head brewer for new BOP In Columbus Ohio!

BRU of Columbus is getting ready to open its doors to the public this late summer/early fall, and we are excited to announce our search for a rockstar BRUmaster! As the first Brew on Premise in Columbus, Ohio, and the first BOP of its kind in the world, we are looking for you, a seasoned brewing professional who is as unique and innovative as we are.

In addition to a full-service bar, we have a gorgeous shiny new 8-kettle BOP system at our location in the Short North, and all we need now is for you to run it! Who are you? You ooze personality, thrive on working with people (employees and customers), and are a true professional who lives beer. You are that special well-rounded someone who loves teaching and talking about beer, you have production brewing and home brewing experience, and you know the correct amount of IBUs in an IPA and the best hop variety for a 5-gallon batch of Imperial Stout.

As our BRUmaster, you will “own” the brewery, and be responsible for:
    • Working closely with our customers to help them brew high-quality craft beer in 15-gallon batches.
    • Innovating new recipes; we want to open with 30 or more recipes that our customers can brew, and eventually expand to as many as 100 or more.
    • Brewing beer for consumption in the bar, as well as for wholesale distribution to other beer retailers.
    • Consulting with local home brewers who are interested in buying brewing equipment, ingredients, and supplies.
    • Maintaining production and retail inventory.
    • Establishing and ensuring compliance with safety procedures.
    • Maintaining the cleanliness and functional operation of all brewing, bottling, and fermenting areas and equipment.
    • Hiring and training a team of BRUmeisters (assistant brewers who will work closely with our BOP customers).
    • Continuously improving brewing and retail operations.
    • Representing BRU at beer festivals and events.

As you can imagine, this a job that requires the ability to work on your feet all day, lift heavy objects (50 lbs and more), and keep up with the enthusiastic employees and customers. You have some formal brewing education and also have some experience working for a production brewery. You know how to use a computer and spreadsheets, and are mechanically inclined and know how to troubleshoot a boiler and condensate return.

If you can answer “YES” to any of these following questions, you need not apply:
    • Are you annoyed when someone asks you the difference between an ale and a lager?
    • Are you uncomfortable working with and talking to strangers from all walks of life?
    • Are you happy working for a company that does the same thing day-in and day-out?
    • Are you afraid of experimenting and trying new things?
    • Do you refuse to work on weekends?
    • Are you a Michigan fan?

If you are still reading this, we can only assume that you feel you are qualified for this exciting opportunity. Please send us your resume, and a little something about yourself in an email to: info (at) youbru.com

(seriously, give us a paragraph or 2 about yourself ... blank emails with resumes attached will be deleted). If you want to know a little about us, check out this recent article: http://www.columbusunderground.com/b...pt-to-columbus

Thanks for having a look and for considering what is truly a life-changing opportunity in the growing craft- and home- brewing industries. We look forward to hearing from you! Something is BRUing...
