  • Austin, TX Brewery seeks Experienced Shift Brewer

Independence Brewing Company is seeking to add another brewer to its rapidly expanding team. We're in Austin, Texas- where a new microbrewery seems to open monthly- though we have become well-established in Austin since our opening in 2005. Our volume almost doubled from 2000 barrels in 2010 to 5500 in 2011, and we are looking to double our volume yet again in the next year with a facility expansion and the addition of 60bbl Fermentation, Brite tanks, and a new Brewhouse. The reputation and quality of the four beers in our regular line-up (in bottles and on draught) and our seasonal and limited release brews is improving every single day.

Brewers at Independence are expected to be proficient at all aspects of the brewery- including the bottling line, keg cleaning, sanitizing and filling, filtering and transfers.

A brewer will be required during his/her shift to CIP, sanitize, and pitch yeast into fermenters in addition to any other cellar work that is required to open fermentation space. A brewer is also required to monitor the fermentation via gravity samples of beers in (now 11) different fermenters to ensure beer is moving through production as quickly as possible.

    Qualifications:
-at least 1 year of brewing experience in a production brewery
-familiarity with all aspects of the brewery, including tank CIP, sanitizing, yeast pitching, filtering and beer transfer
-ability to work on weekends and late hours (5pm-1am)
-ability to lift 60 lbs over head
-formal brewing training a plus but not required

Please email CV's (a list of references is a definite plus) or questions to david@independencebrewing.com.
