  • Self distribution till when?

With two drivers and two vans for self dist, how many barrels do you deliv before going with another distributor. Is 2000 bbls a year overkill to try and do in house? When did you make the switch? We have a team of five including the drivers, brewers, etc.

I'd say it totally depends on the anticipated delivery radius. Are all of your accounts within 5-10 miles or 100-200 miles? Big difference.

We can do up too 100 mile radius by s/d. At this point we still have not covered this area but we are producing 680 bbls a year, we will be expanding to a 20 bbl system in 6 months and project 1500 in the first year and 2400 by year 2 on that brew house.

We self-distribute with 2 vans and 2 full-time drivers. We are on pace to sell close to 6,000bbl this year. If we fully loaded both vans every day, we could probably do a little over 7,000bbl. There's a lot you can do with 2 vans.

But, we do all that within about a 15 mile radius of the brewery. Austin is a fairly compact city with most accounts concentrated near the downtown area. It's very convenient for deliveries.

          Best of luck!
