  • Pilot system fermenter

I would like to make a 15 gallon conical fermenter out of a keg shell. I think its doable. But my big question is can i make one that i can put 18 psi on. I want to weld a tri clover to the top and a cone on the bottom. Also little fetures like a pressure gauge thermowell and racking arm. Question can sanitary welds be done on something so small and with out a hatch. second would it hold 18 psi after such modifactions. I am not a welder but i say why not. i spent a few hours on the net looking at ones for sale and the best i found only held 3 psi. What i want to accomplish is to close off the air lock after three days of fermentation and allow pressure to build to carbonate the beer naturaly and then drop the yeast out add more pressure and the using tri clovers push beer into 5 gallon kegs. Who belives its possible and how. any tip our conccern i would like to hear. thank you

Why not try one of these:
home brew, home brewing, beer ingredients, homebrew, beer kits, beer equipment, brewing equipment

More Beer has a 24 gallon conical available.
    Cheers & I'm out!

I called them and asked about them. You can not put any pressure on them. there are a new style out there that will take 3 psi. but that is not enough to carb a beer. I did find an interesting site though with parts to build your own. it is www.toledometalspinning.com. They have good prices compared to more beer and other sites, plus they will do welds for you.

Try Stainless Steel Specialists out of Montreal. They can make just about anything you want from homebrewing to pilot to craft and macro brewing. The welding is top rate and prices are fair. www.stainlesssteelspec.com

        Ask for Yvon.
        Bottoms Up!
