  • Glycol Rust Inhibitor

Does anyone have a source for a glycol rust inhibitor additive? I ended up with just pure propylene glycol with my Birko order but the reservoir on my chiller isn't stainless and has accumulated quite a bit of rust. The chiller hasn't been put to work yet as the brewery isn't up and running so it's just had plain water in there for a while.

    Inhibitor Source

This page describes one add in source possible, said to be superior to molybdate for this application:

    PS
We use the Dowfrost band that is already inhibited. It costs more but it has stood the test of time.

Thanks for the link I've sent them an email. I was looking at Dow Frost but it ended up being easier to just add the plain glycol to my chemical shipment. When it needs to be topped up maybe I'll switch over to Dow and make life easier

And don't forget to install and subsequently maintain a fine-screened wye strainer on the pump discharge. Otherwise you'll be posting about stuck solenoid valves soon! Cheers!
