Stone Brewing Co. is looking for a talented project engineer to join our Production team.
Summary
Manages all current and future brewery construction projects related to new equipment installation. Develop priorities, timelines, and requirements for brewery project needs projecting out several years.
*Primary manager for all current and new site brewery equipment projects.
Responsibilities
• Assist Brewmaster and Senior Management in the development of the 5 year capital plan once per quarter.
• Facilitate the definition of project scope, goals and deliverables
• Define project tasks and resource requirements and develop full scale cross functional project plans.
• Perform due diligence for new equipment evaluation, including arranging for test units, researching and getting recommendations from current users, and evaluating all options to achieve the end goal.
• Submit official project proposals for each project, including justifications, recommendations and contingencies.
• Develop time lines, budgets, and justifications for each project and submit for approval
• Collect bids and source equipment and contractors required for each project, using sound fiscal and technical skills.
• Apply cost analysis skills to actively seek out cost effective methods and solutions for each project including solution alternatives.
• Work with Production Team to schedule outages and equipment installations.
• Track and communicate to managers regular status updates, scope and design changes, budgetary changes as the project is developed and implemented.
• Develop start-up plan, training plan, SOPs and TOPs for each new piece of equipment.
• Work with managers and production team to effectively close projects by resolving all lingering issues to ensure successful transfer of the operation to the Process Manager.
• Assist with scoping, developing, and planning for Utilities, Control System, and Instrumentation projects as needed.
• Comply with all regulatory codes and safety codes.
• Ensure all project documentation and record keeping requirements are being fulfilled, managed, and maintained.
• Select and manage contractors following the guidelines set forth by EHS and management
• Be a resource for equipment maintenance, reliability and process optimization.
Education and/or Experience
Engineering degree required, preferably Mechanical, Industrial or Chemical, and proven track record in brewery and/or food plant project management with focus on equipment installation, design, and construction. Experience with brewhouse, cellar, and bottling line installation is preferred. Must have a minimum of 15 years directly related experience in managing complex construction projects; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have a minimum of 15 years’ experience with brewery and/or piping and valving design and installation. Must have detailed knowledge of the brewing process as well as knowledge of Utilities operations, including industrial refrigeration, boiler operation, CO2 distribution, and collection.
Excellent mechanical aptitude, hands-on experience with brewhouses, packaging lines, transfer systems, pumps, valves, refrigeration and solids separation. Development and start-up experience with PLC-based process control systems and PLC programming ability desired. Computer literacy, competent in internet and Microsoft Office as well as experience with project management tools including auto-CAD, Microsoft Project.
