  • Leaving the brewhouse hooked up

New to the forum, new to a brewery Our knockout hoses are occasionally left hooked up from one brew day to the next to make life easier. 1) Is this an alright idea? 2) If so Should we leave them empty or packed with Iodophor?

I do it when I brew back to back days. I leave them pack in acid then come for the second day and hot kill the heat exchanger then next day. But I would not leave the hose in iodine it will stain the the hoses.

I have done this for years, I leave all caps tight, and the next day run 180 deg. hot liquor through the transfer lines and the heat exchanger, never had a problem yet.

When do you clean/sanitize the fermenter for the second brew? I've always just tied the hoses and heat exchanger into those cycles.

Beer is like porn. You can buy it, but it's more fun to make your own.

Thanks for the advice! I've been trying to get away from the Io but it's the owners choice. I've been doing 180 degree cycles which I think is new to the brewery as well. Thanks again.
