  • The Bruery – Seeking A Brewer Of Character And Depth

    The Bruery is seeking a Brewer with character, depth and a mind for the unconventional (just like our beers) to assist in our brewing and cellar operations. Our Brewers are responsible for the entire brewing process from receiving raw materials to the cellaring of our beer, and everything in between. The right candidate will be safety-minded, efficient, quality-focused, have a great work ethic, a positive attitude and be a team player.

    Brewer Duties:

    Independently brew batches and manage brewing operations, including but not limited to handling raw material, operating the brewhouse, vessel CIP (including heat exchanger), yeast harvesting & propagation, cell counting, cellar work, other aspects of brewing and cellar work, and lots of cleaning!
    Working with QA department and cellar staff on monitoring fermentation (gravity, pH, cell counts, etc.), aseptic sampling, and conducting/participating in taste panels.
    Maintaining accurate and legible records.
    Help supervise and delegate tasks to assistant brewers and production assistants.

    Requirements:

    Knowledge – Mastery of the brewing process. Creativity in helping us produce new beers. Able to strictly follow recipes and our standard operating procedures.
    Experience – Minimum of 1 year brewing experience in a packaging brewery is required. A formal brewing education is desirable.
    Physical requirements - Our brewhouse is very labor intensive and requires a lot of attention. The brewer must be able to bend over, twist, kneel, climb stairs, stand for the duration of a shift, shovel hot grain, lift 55+ pounds repeatedly, handle hot and cold liquids, and handle oak barrels. Requires working in a non-temperature controlled environment, proper handling of hazardous materials, and operation of complex machinery.
    Time requirements - We operate an extended production schedule with frequent 24 hour brewing schedule. Brewer must have a flexible schedule. Occasional Saturday and Sundays may be required.
    Other – Overtime may be required; Travel to and participation in trade shows and beer related events. Must be 21+ years of age, and have proof of eligibility to work in the US.
