Plant Manager – Olympia, WA
Fish Brewing Company representing high quality hand crafted beers with a portfolio including Fishtale Ales, Leavenworth Beers, and Spire Mountain Ciders has an immediate opening at the Fishtale Brewery in Olympia, WA for a Plant Manager. The Plant Manager reports to the President/CEO and is responsible for management and oversight of plant operations at a 24,000-barrel regional brewery producing 3-5 owned and contract-produced products. The plant employs approximately 14 employees in Quality Assurance, Maintenance, Brewing, Packaging, and Logistics.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Specific duties include:
• Oversight of Quality Assurance, Maintenance, Brewing, Packaging, and Logistics.
• Order raw materials and schedule weekly production and processing needs
• Execute to the Fish Brewing QA program; meet or exceed Quality targets.
• Manage Fish Brewing Safety standards in all areas of the brewery.
• Manage to an annual budget measured monthly.
• Maintain plant and facility assets in “like new” condition.
• Hire, train and manage all plant employees.
• Maintain the brewery in tour-ready state at all times
• Establish and manage to quarterly and annual objectives
• Support Fish Brewing Company Values
• Work with management in the development of procedures, policies and budgets
• Other duties as assigned throughout the brewery to assist other departments as needed to accomplish organizational goals.
Position Requirements:
• EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: Four-year college degree preferably in brewing or a brewing-related field. Professional certification from AOB, IBD or similar programs preferred but not required.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
• Five years of brewing industry experience with two years of progressive advancement in management positions.
• Strong skills in technical aspects of brewing, beer finishing, packaging, project management, leadership, and personnel development.
• Strong computer skills including knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite programs, an accounting system such as Quickbooks, Peachtree, or MYOB. Must have knowledge of a brewery enterprise system or willingness and ability to learn.
• Able to read and manage monthly budgets and financial statements.
• Experience in hiring and training production and technical personnel
• Technical and analytical skills adequate to effectively resolve beer production, engineering, packaging, quality, and employee performance issues
• Familiarity with technical work in consumer preference, technical sensory evaluation, product development, and taste panel operations
• Sound technical knowledge of brewing raw materials and components
• Experience in motivating staff to achieve goals; ability to develop and manage productive relationships with staff and peers locally and remotely.
