What is the name of the hard smooth plastic sheets used as the surface for a maheen filler. We need a material like this to use as a transition piece for our new bottling setup. Does anyone know what it is called and where I might be able to find it? I don't really feel like blind searching through a grainger catalog, but I know it is probably in there somewhere. Thanks for any help.

plastics
It is an hdpe (high density polyethelene). I have been finding them on Ebay or you can google "King Starboard". It is a marine grade material which I have used to build tables which join the Meheen.
Actually thinking about using it for a shuffleboard table.

Mcmaster Carr also sells a wear resistant nylon that might work nicely
"Wear-Resistant Nylon
Also known as nylon 6/6, this general-purpose material resists wear and abrasion as well as gasoline, mineral oil, and refrigerants.
View detailed performance properties for plastics.
Rectangular Bars, Sheets
Color: Off-white or black
Maximum Temperature: 210° F
Tensile Strength: Excellent
Impact Strength: Poor
Width tolerance is +1/8", -0.010".
Off-white sheets are made with resin that is FDA compliant, USDA compliant, and NSF certified. The resin also meets 3-A sanitary standard requirements, UL 94V2 for flame retardance, ASTM D4066, and ASTM D5989."

McMaster is great, but you'll save a bunch with a local plastics supplier.
Nylon is more expensive than polyethylene. What you are looking for is UHMW. (ultra high molecular weight) polyethylene.
Look up a plastic supplier and ask for UHMW sheet. (blow the dust off the yellow pages in your bookshelf)
It absorbs almost no water unlike nylon. Normally not a big deal, but nylon can be a pain if used for an application where there's tight mechanical tolerances.
