Great Northern Brewing Company in Whitefish, Montana is seeking a professionally trained assistant brewer. Commercial brewing experience is not absolutely necessary but is preferred. However, a formal brewing education is essential (i.e. Siebel, UC Davis, etc). Most importantly, the right candidate must have an exceptional work ethic, an uncanny attention to detail, and of course, an obvious passion for craft brewing. Great Northern is seeking leadership qualities that prove vital for company growth. The right candidate will demonstrate qualities necessary for potential graduation into a Head Brewer position. Candidates with mechanical inclination/experience are preferred and viewed very favorably.
The candidate will join the team through our internship program. This probationary period will allow for formal training in our brewhouse, as well as an opportunity to join our brewing team as a full-time assistant brewer. A full time position following the internship period is not guaranteed. The probationary internship period is approximately 90 days. The internship period is unpaid.
Responsibilities will encompass all aspects of day-to-day brewing operations such as brewing, cellaring, cleaning, packaging, and maintenance. Candidates that demonstrate a historical track record of an intense work ethic will be viewed favorably.

The Great Northern Brewery was designed by world renowned architect Joe Escherick in 1994 as a traditional "Gravity Flow" arrangement, and designed with particular attention to needs of lager brewing. The mostly automated 20 barrel brew house was custom designed and installed by JVNorthwest, allowing for an annual capacity of 8,000 barrels.

Whitefish, Montana was chosen as the home for the Great Northern Brewery because of its rugged and beautiful surroundings, the excellent water, and the unique history of the Flathead Valley.
