  • Co2 Lines and fittings

What is the best design for co2 lines and fittings (check valves and connections ) to fermenters and brite tanks (carbonating) which stop beer from backing up the lines and prevent the line from ending up on the ground.... Any suggestions? (dedicated lines for each tank? Hose reels? hard piped?)

    Thanks

Hard lines in stainless. Spend time working out the layout to make it as simple as possible (less opportunity for bugs to grow!) and avoid low points as this is where any liquids will collect.

Stainless can be steam-cleaned effectively so keep that in mind as you're planning the layout so you can make sure all areas are accessible, ie. keep side branches, etc. down to the bare minimum.

If you're going to be using the lines for top-pressure, plan for a good vertical length to the point of entry as it's always harder for liquids to climb upwards, and anything that does manage to get in is more likely to run back out than get stuck, necessitating a strip-down to clean.
