  • Brewer @ Portland Brewing Co

North American Breweries, one of the largest and fastest growing American-owned beer companies in the United States, owns and operates four U.S. breweries and six retail locations in NY, VT, CA, OR and WA.

At NAB, we take great pride in the beers we produce and market. And, we firmly believe that our employees drive the success of the company. This means “getting the right people on the bus” and enabling, empowering, and encouraging each to perform as effectively as possible.
Our craft brewery in northwest Portland, The Portland Brewery Company, is currently seeking a full-time Production Brewer to join the team. This is where our award-winning Pyramid and Portland Brewing Co beers are brewed and packaged.

This Brewer will help execute a weekly brewing schedule and perform certain quality control tests on the product at various stages of brewing. He/she will: operate our brewhouse, including milling, mashing, lautering, boiling, hop additions, whirlpool, and wort cooling; perform beer transfers and filtration and brew soda, including mixing and carbonation. In addition, this position is responsible for pre & post cleaning and sanitation of all transfer lines and vessels.

This 2nd shift Brewer will work four 10 hour shifts per week (2 p.m. – approx. midnight) after ~2 months of training on the 1st shift. Work days rotate and some weekend shifts are required.

Making exceptional beer can be extremely rewarding but not necessarily glamorous! This position is very physical in nature and therefore requires frequently lifting up to 55 lbs, comfort working at heights while standing on ladders, working in tight/cramped spaces and/or in awkward positions for extended periods of time. The work environment includes working on and around potentially dangerous equipment/machinery, handling hazardous materials, exposure to high noise levels, wet/slippery floors, and broken glass.

Our ideal candidate will have at least one year hands on brewing experience in a production brewery. He or she should have an advanced understanding of brewing science as well as excellent organizational, communication and safe chemical handling skills. Candidates should have a strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of machinery and systems and be a certified forklift operator.
North American Breweries offers a competitive compensation package, excellent benefits including medical, dental, vision, 10 paid holidays, generous paid time off as well as a 401(k) retirement plan with employer matching. We also offer an innovative wellness plan and an incentive plan that enable all employees to share in the brewery’s success. We are a drug-free workplace committed to safety.
Interested candidates should apply online at www.portlandbrewing.com. In the section where you paste your resume, please be sure to let us know (1) why you are interested in this position with our company and (2) why you would be a great fit.
