Alameda Brewing Co., founded in 1996 and located in Portland, OR, is looking for an Assistant Brewer to work at our 20 BBL production facility immediately. We are looking for someone with at least 2 years of professional brewing experience either in a production facility or larger scale brewpub. A professional brewing degree is a plus but not necessarily a requirement. Applicants should have a great attention to detail and a strong work ethic. Duties will include, but are not limited
-Brewing world class, consistent beer on a 3 vessel 20 BBL brewhouse
-Cellar work, i.e. CIP of FV's and BTs, Transferring, Racking, Bottling, etc.
-Washing kegs (for the time being)
-Cleaning...
-Recipe development on our 5 BBL brewpub system
The ideal applicant...
-Must have strong communication skills and possess strong planning and organizational skills.
-Must have a solid understanding of all aspects of brewing, cellaring, yeast handling, CIP and sanitizing.
-Must have a strong mechanical background with the aptitude to troubleshoot problems.
- Must be physically able to do all the hard work that is brewing (lift 55# and ocassionally 165# kegs, work in cold and hot areas, etc.)
-Should have prior packaging, bottling and racking experience.
-Should have a basic knowledge of chemistry and biology..
-Should have self-motivation and the ability to work alone
-Must have a flexible schedule (Shift work, night shifts, and weekends)
-Must be computer literate in spreadsheets and Microsoft Office.
-Should be willing to participate in the wonderful and fun culture which is Beervana, OR (i.e. Beer dinners, festivals, etc.)
-Should have a good sense of humor and be able to roll with the punches.
We are expecting to nearly double our barrelage this year and currently sell beer to Orgeon, Washington, Idaho, British Columbia, Alaska and sometimes Brazil. Please Email resume to ckhaney@gmail.com
